Wisconsin Army National Guard Spc. Michael J. Wendling, 20, of Mayville, WI died in Shaibah, Iraq on Sept. 26, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during convoy operations and he was attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire. Spc. Wending was based in Kuwait and was killed during a convoy mission.
